Mental Health Clinician-Child and Family

Position Summary

Master's level Clinical Social Workers at South Bay Community Services provide a continuum of community-based/home based services to children and families. They will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience as you work with our professional and innovative clinical team. Our team provides clients with a full range of counseling services for their mental health and substance abuse recovery needs, including intensive family issues, trauma, forensics, and mental illness.

Education & Licensing Requirements

Counselor (Master level): Master’s degree in Counseling Education, Counseling Psychology, or Rehabilitation Counseling
from an accredited educational institution and full-time supervised clinical experience in a multi-disciplinary mental health
setting subsequent to obtaining a Master’s degree. Dual diagnosis experience is required to conduct therapy with dual
diagnosis clients. Must have completed a full-time clinical internship in a mental health setting. Must have and maintain
valid driver’s license.

Social Worker (MSW and/or LCSW): Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited educational institution and two
years full-time supervised clinical experience in a graduate internship program. Dual diagnosis experience is required to
conduct therapy with dual diagnosis. Must be licensed or applying for licensure as a certified social worker by the
Massachusetts Board of Registration for Social Workers. Must have and maintain valid driver’s license.

Social Worker (LICSW): Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited educational institution and two years full-
time supervised clinical experience subsequent to obtaining a Master’s degree. Dual diagnosis is required to conduct therapy
with dual diagnosis clients. Must be licensed or have applied for licensure and have a license pending as an Independent
Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Social Workers. Must have and maintain valid
driver’s license.

Duties & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing outpatient mental health and/or substance abuse services to individuals,
groups, families and couples.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Provide outreach counseling to individual, group, family, and couples
? Consult with outside agencies, referral sources, and other professionals as necessary
? Attend supervision, staff meetings, and consultations as required
? Complete surveys and questionnaires as required
? Initiate, maintain, and complete clinical files and records for each client, including initial evaluations, assessments,
treatment plans, session notes, transfer and termination summaries and other required documentation
? Adhere to company policies, administrative directives, therapy guidelines, codes of conduct and all office and
administrative procedures
? Adhere to all therapy guidelines and codes of conduct
? Adhere to professional standards and guidelines according to their respective disciplines
? Respond to client emergencies as needed
? Attend court hearings, CORE evaluations, and other meetings as required
? Maintain contact with site and consumers by checking voicemail and emails daily.
? Keep supervisor informed of progress of all cases
? Meet direct service requirements based on part time or full time status, as designated
? Adhere to provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 119, Section 51A (Mandated Reporter); report all occurrences immediately to
the clinic
? Adhere to clinical recommendations from clinical administration
? Maintain confidentiality in all clinical matters
? Remain compliant with billing and documentation in accordance with direct service requirement
? Other duties as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
a) Lifting: Less than 15 lbs.
b) Stooping/bending: Seldom
c) Crawling/climbing/kneeling: Seldom
d) Reaching/pulling/pushing: Seldom

Experience & Skills

* LCSW/ LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT license preferred, but not required
*At least two years working with targeted population
*Comfortable with in-home therapy
*Own a vehicle with a valid drivers license
*Ability to pass a background and drug screening
*Experience with 1:1 counseling in a therapy setting
*Group therapy experience a plus
*Ability to utilize a computer and electric medical record software
*Spanish speaking a plus but not required
