Family Behavior Resources (FBR) is searching for a Personal Care Aide (PCA). The Personal Care Aide is responsible for implementing strategies and instructional methods to target student progress toward IEP goals.  They must also assist with academic lessons and behavior goals.

Initially the role will start with Part-Time Variable (PTV) hours, and build into a more part-time regular or full-time role. PCA hires will be servicing counties all throughout Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh areas).


  • As directed within the IEP and/or Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP), provide on-site modeling of behavior, behavior support, intensive behavioral episode intervention, training, cueing to family and other school staff.

  • As directed within the IEP and/or PBSP, collect and record data regarding student progress toward IEP goals.

  • Review and maintain current with Department of Education regulations to ensure fidelity of existing programs.

  • As directed within the IEP and/or PBSP, provide assistance in implementing alternative activities to redirect challenging behaviors.

  • At all times, offer honest, respectful, professional, and caring collaborations with the family and school staff.  

  • The PCA will maintain an assigned planned schedule which is decided upon by the IEP team and communicated to the PCA.

  • Schedule and participate in supervision with a behavior consultant no less than one time per month.

  • Complete documentation related to provision of all services provided in the classroom/home environment.

  • Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development through attending agency trainings and maintain current knowledge in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.

  • Provide exceptional care and compassion in all student/family related interactions.

  • Work with all members of the educational team to ensure that they fully understand the needs and goals for the student and family.

  • Establish and maintain professionalism with faculty, administrators and students.

  • Collaborate with other members of the IEP team and will be present and participate in any meetings, supervision and trainings as required.

  • Perform additional reasonable responsibilities as assigned by Behavior Consultant and Director of Individualized Education Services.  

  • All other reasonable and necessary program specific activities at the discretion and direction of the Program supervisors.

The Personal Care Aide candidates must be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma, and have at least 2 years’ experience working in direct contact with children or adolescents.

Clearances: (Perspective employee must have the following clearances before their first day)

·         PA State Child Abuse Clearance (Upon hire, prior to working with clients, and every year thereafter)

·         Pennsylvania State Criminal Background Check (Upon hire, prior to working with clients and every year thereafter)

·         FBI Clearance - Department of Human Services
