Position details:  This is a part-time position (PTV); 11 hours a week.  This position services the Pottstown and Palmyra, PA area.  Travel compensation is provided and travel is required up to 100% of the time


The Systematic Skill Building Specialist uses evidence-based methods to help participants acquire skills that promote independence and integration into the community.  The Specialist develops a Skill Building Plan (SBP) based on the participant’s goals. The specialist aligns paid and natural supports in using the SBP to promote generalization of skills across different environments.  This position requires travel between consumers and consumer transportation - travel compensation is provided.


Job responsibilities of the Systematic Skill Building Specialist:

  • Develop the Skill Building Plans for assigned participants including:
    • Conduct evaluation of the participant’s abilities and learning style that is related to the goals in the Individual Service Plan (ISP)
    • The SBP will justify necessary levels of systematic skill building services including benchmarks for assessing progress.
    • Meet with the participant, family and other providers to explain the SBP to ensure all parties understand the plan, how to implement I, how to collect necessary data for evaluating effectiveness, and the importance of its consistent application.
  • Provide direct supports once SBP is completed.  Direct support includes:
    • Support of and consultation with the participant to help them understand the purpose, objectives,, methods, and documentation of the SBP and review recommended revisions;
    • Direct interaction or observation of the participant to evaluate progress and the need to revise the SBP or its objectives.
  • Provide consultative supports which include:
    • Support family members, friends, waiver providers, other support providers and employers to help them understand the purpose, objectives, methods, and documentation of the SBP and to understand any revisions that have been made to the plan which have previously been agreed upon with the participant
    • Monitor and analyze data collected during the implementation of the SBP based on the goals of the SBP
    • Modify and revise the SBP as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Education or in another field with 3 years’ experience working directly supporting individuals with ADS in the community
  • Complete required training developed or approved by BAS regarding services for people with autism spectrum disorders and other training required for the position
  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license


AERI staff will be transporting consumers and are responsible for providing his/her proof of insurance face sheet that notes the Liability coverage limits of at least $100,000 bodily injury and at least $300,000 total per accident in their policy.
