JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for providing therapeutic support (TSS) and one-on-one interventions under the supervision of a Master’s level therapist. This position is responsible for working with children and adolescents on acquiring, developing, and increasing social engagement and independent living skills, and increasing interaction in community and home settings. This position works to reduce problem behaviors that impede functioning. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Implements interventions in home, school, and various community environments 

Completes all required clinical documentation 

Participates in assessment of needs, and objective development, as appropriate 

Collects data related to progress on consumer objectives 

Responds to emergency/crisis situations with team members and consumers 

Maintains assigned, planned schedule 

Maintains a commitment to professional development 

Adheres to professional and ethical interaction policies and procedures 

Supports on-going and future business needs 

TSS services may be provided in the consumer's home, the school, or the community setting. 

This position requires travel between consumers - travel compensation is provided.

Required Skills 

Physical Requirements: Employee must be able to read, write and speak fluent English Employee must be able to gain access to all AGENCY facilities with reasonable accommodation if required. Employee must be able to gain access to client''s place of treatment whether it is the client''s home, school or community. Employee must be able to interact with clients as specifically noted in their individual treatment plans. While performing specific interventions, employee may be required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, run and if applicable, sit on floor and rise to standing positions. Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to use physical prompting, if authorized or in an emergency, to prevent injury to the client or another as a result of the clients behavior. 

Mental Requirements: Must be able to react quickly to prevent client injury or injury to another due to client''s behavior. Must be able to deliver and perform interventions noted in the individual client treatment plans. Must remain focused while intervening with clients and must be capable of detecting warning signs and intervene accordingly to prevent any unusual incidents. Must use awareness of cultural values and biases to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Must be able to perform services in an unbiased manner and be accepting of differences of parent/guardian rearing, home conditions, and appearances unless they directly affect the outcome of goals established for the individual''s treatment plan. 

Required Experience 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Criminology, Education, Psychology, Sociology. Social Work, or other related field required
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in any other field must have one year of paid full-time experience working directly with children or adolescents OR an Associate’s Degree must have one year of paid full-time experience working as a TSS Aide
  • OR Associate’s Degree or 60 credits towards a Bachelor’s Degree or LPN’s must have 3 years of full-time paid experience working directly with children or adolescents
