Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for providing direct and indirect behavioral intervention and consultation to consumers, family, and other stakeholders.  The BCBA is responsible for guiding treatment by developing a treatment plan, monitoring progress on goals, intervening directly with a consumer, and developing programs, as appropriate.  

 


The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):


Leads and directs individualized treatment

By adhering to applicable BACB, county, state and federal standard regulations when developing an individualized treatment plan, individual service plan, and/or treatment goals for consumers; programming and data analysis in order to monitor consumer progress


Provides treatment of the whole person

By providing service, training and supervision in collaboration with all team members involved with the consumer, and with the understanding that treatment of the whole person is crucial


Consults with all members of the treatment team to ensure plan participation

By training and consulting with all members of the treatment team to ensure full understanding of purpose objectives, methods, and documentation of the treatment plan, behavioral support plan and/or individual service plan.




Monitors individualized consumer-driven data to address consumer needs

By completing on-going analysis and evaluation of efficacy of behavioral treatment goals to address consumer’s current needs and adjust plans, as necessary, and regularly communicate updates to required members of the treatment team


Supervises response to emergency/crisis situations with team members and consumers

By committing to ensuring the safety of the consumer, and the proper utilization of de-escalation skills, when needed


Provides consultation and supervision services to improve center understanding and application of Applied Behavior Analysis

Through conducting training, providing supervision, conducting case reviews and consultation, and reviewing treatment plans as directed by the Director of Behavior Analysis.


Participates in required meetings, evaluations, supervision and trainings

By collaborating with all members of the treatment team and participating, when necessary, in all required meetings, assessments, evaluations, trainings and supervision, per agreement with supervisor and as required to maintain certification through the BACB


Completes all required clinical documentation

By completing all required documentation related to provision of treatment, as outlined in program requirements and provider policy  


Maintains assigned, planned schedule

By following program guidelines to ensure regular service provision and maintenance of caseload, per agreement with program supervisor


Maintains a commitment to professional development

By participating in on-going supervision, training, and department and team meetings, as outlined by policies and procedures


Adheres to professional and ethical interaction policies and procedures

By interacting professionally, ethically, and respectfully with consumers, other team members – including family members, and co-workers, at all times; following policy and procedure and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries


Supports on-going and future business needs

By completing other duties, as assigned, to effectively support business priorities and processes


IMPACT OF RESULTS:

Directly interacts with consumers and impacts overall wellness and mental health based on effectiveness of implemented clinical modalities; directly impacts the customer service experience and continued business relationship of those parties; directly supports the clinical development and application of ABA across assigned centers

II. JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES


EDUCATION   

Master’s degree in behavior analysis, special education, or related field.


LICENSURE

  • Must have active BCBA certification in addition to other certifications/license as required by individual states to practice as a BCBA


  • Must have completed BCBA supervisory coursework or successfully complete the BCBA Supervisory Coursework within 90 days of hire


EXPERIENCE

Experience implementing behavioral interventions preferred


COMPETENCIES

Must be proficient in use of electronic health record system; must be proficient in completion of psychosocial assessments; must be proficient in applied behavior analysis; must be able to make sound decisions to support consumers in a calm and timely manner; must be able to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities based upon consumer needs, and react quickly to prevent consumer injury or injury to another due to consumer behavior



This position reports to the Director of Behavior Analysis and is accountable to licensing guidelines.  This position is held accountable by regular audits completed by the Director of Behavior Analysis, Clinical Supervisor, and the Quality Management and Human Resources departments.
