BCIS - Behavior Consultant (PT)

JOB PURPOSE:  This position is responsible for providing specialized behavioral support to individuals who may demonstrate behavioral challenges because of limited social skills, communication skills, mental health symptoms, or developmental delays.  This position provides clinical oversight of all treatment and provides specialized interventions to consumers.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS AND FUNCTIONS:

 

Provides clinical oversight of all aspects of treatment

By developing and overseeing the individualized, comprehensive behavioral intervention and treatment plans to assist in the increase of adaptive behaviors to replace or modify challenge behaviors of a disruptive or destructive nature

 

Supports active participation of the entire treatment team

By providing consumer-centered and family-focused planning; by providing training of and consultation with family members, friends, providers, and other supports in the purpose objectives, methods, and documentation of the behavioral intervention and treatment plans

 

Provides crisis intervention support

By developing a crisis intervention plan that identifies appropriate crisis intervention support; by responding to behavioral episodes manifested by acute symptoms of sufficient severity

 

Supports the relevant data analysis of the behavioral support plan

By conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) of behaviors and causes and providing on-going analysis of assessment findings of behavior to be targeted; by monitoring and analyzing data collected during the behavioral support plan implementation based on the goals of the treatment plan

 

Demonstrates understanding in appropriate implementation of evidence-based assessments

By modeling evidence based behavioral strategies for others that support the consumer to encourage consistent and generalization across all settings

 

Demonstrates a strong knowledge of research and evidence-based practices

By utilizing research-based strategies and information to design programming from assessments, and to develop necessary interventions to improve independence and success

 

 

Provides treatment of the whole person

By providing service and supervision in collaboration with all team members involved with the consumer, and with the understanding that treatment of the whole person is crucial

 

Supervises response to emergency/crisis situations with team members and consumers

By committing to ensuring the safety of the consumer, and the proper utilization of de-escalation skills, when needed

 

Participates in required meetings, evaluations, supervision and trainings

By collaborating with all members of the treatment team and participating, when necessary, in all required meetings, assessments, evaluations, trainings and supervision, per agreement with supervisor

 

Completes all required clinical documentation

By completing all required documentation related to provision of treatment, as outlined in program requirements and provider policy 

 

Maintains assigned, planned schedule

By following program guidelines to ensure regular service provision and maintenance of caseload, per agreement with program supervisor

 

Maintains a commitment to professional development

By participating in on-going supervision, training, and department and team meetings, as outlined by policies and procedures

 

Adheres to professional and ethical interaction policies and procedures

By interacting professionally, ethically, and respectfully with consumers, other team members – including family members, and co-workers, at all times; following policy and procedure and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries

 

Supports on-going and future business needs

By completing other duties, as assigned, to effectively support business priorities and processes      

 

IMPACT OF RESULTS:

Directly interacts with consumers and impacts overall wellness and mental health based on effectiveness of implemented clinical modalities; directly impacts the customer service experience and continued business relationship of those parties.

                

II.     JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

 

EDUCATION  

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, or similar human services field; BCBA preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

At least 1 year of experience in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis.

 

COMPETENCIES

Must be proficient in use of electronic health record system; must be proficient in completion of psychosocial assessments; must be able to make sound decisions to support consumers in a calm and timely manner; must be able to utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities based upon consumer needs, and react quickly to prevent consumer injury or injury to another due to consumer behavior

WORK LOCATION

Home, school, or community setting – as outlined in individual consumer treatment plan

 

TRAVEL

Up to 100% of travel between appointment sites or other locations – as outlined in program requirements

 May be required to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

 May be required to occasionally move about inside a home, school, community, clinic, or program office environment to provide services to consumers, support employees and team members, or access office resources and machinery

 May be required to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e.: iPad, copier, printer)

 May be required to occasionally ascend/descend stairs to provide services to consumers, support employees and team members, or access office resources and machinery

 May be required to position self in appropriate physical proximity to provide services to consumer, support employees and team members, or access office resources and machinery

 May be required to frequently communicate with consumers, employees and team members, or external sources in a way that support’s the company mission and enhances delivery and quality of services

 May be required to recognize and determine data and information pertinent to essential job functions

 May be required to frequently transport resources and materials required to provide quality services

 May be exposed to a variety of work settings, including home, school, community, clinic, and program office environments
