Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Part Time

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing psychiatric services to children and adults at AFS and for managing service orders for other mental health services.  This is a part time tele-health opportunity up to 25 hours per week based on need.                                

·         Conducts or provides psychiatric and / or medication management services on consumers who present themselves to AFS for treatment. 

           ·         Participates in various administrative activities:  staff education or                          trainings; utilization management review/ peer reviews; signs service                            orders; performs consultations with staff and clients as needed.

              ·         Spends at least 80% of their work time performing direct client care                         (billable activities).

              ·         Complies and cooperates with all AFS policies, procedures and rules                      and generally work harmoniously with AFS personnel/employees and                          others to promote the goals and mission of AFS.

             ·         Create and maintain medical and other records necessary via AFS                       electronic medical records software to carry out the Services rendered to clients. 


 Masters or Doctorate level nursing degree from a nationally accredited program and an ANCC (American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification is required in child mental health or child psychiatry and must have or be able to obtain Psychiatric Credentialing. Nurse practitioners that are not PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) certified but have 3 years of documented full time psychiatric care and prescribing under a licensed psychiatric supervision including psychiatric assessment and psychotropic medication prescribing are encouraged to apply. 


 Minimum 0- 3 years of prior work experience working children as a Psychiatric nurse practitioner.
